7 Rupali Bank officers injured in attack

At least seven principal officers of Rupali Bank were injured in an attack by some dismissed fourth class employees of the bank.
The incident took place at the Rupali Bank’s head
office in the city on Sunday morning. The injured principal officers, Allama Iqbal Rana, Md. Farid Ahmed, Niaz Morshed, Sawkat Hossain, Ismail Hossain, Samsul Haque and Tariqul Islam, were admitted to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.
Witlessness said, some employees led by secretary general of Collective Bargaining Agent Kabil Hossain, its president Moktar Hossain started beating the officials of the bank with sticks when they entered the head office at around 10:45am.
DMCH outpost police camp in-charge SI Mozammel Haque said the injured were admitted to the hospital at about 11:30am. One of the wounded Allama Iqbal Rana was severely injured, he added.
While talking to the reporters, Allama Iqbal Rana said some officials and employees suddenly attacked us while we were working in the office at about 10am. But, he could not confirmed the reason behind the attack.
Principal officer Zahidul Islam claimed the attack was pre-planned as they came to office during hartal.
“A group of employees, led by CBA leaders Moshtaq Ahmed and Kabil Hossain, intercepted me and some officers while entering office in the morning. The attackers were Jamaat-Shibir supporters. CBA leader Moshtaq Ahmed denied his involvement in the attack on officials.
