Police arrested seven alleged robbers from Uttarkul village of Jakiganj upazila.
The arrestees were Hasan Ahmed, 26, his brother Afsar Ahmed, 20, Masum Ahmed, 26, Abdul Malik, 18, Maruf Ahmed, 25, Sabbir Ahmed, 23, and Emon Ahmed, 28.
Mohsin Mortuza Chowdhury Tipu, chairman of Barothakuri union parishad, said that a gang of robbers looted valuables from a house of Zahir Ali of the village early Thursday. The robber gang left a mobile phone at the house after committing robbery.
After checking the call list of the mobile set, the locals led by the UP chairman detained the robbers.
Later, the robbers were handed over to the police.
Police also recovered huge sharp weapons from a jungle adjacent to the house of Masum, one of the arrestees.
Two separate cases were filed in this connection.
