Double Mooring Police have arrested seven members of a gang of robbers and snatchers with home-made weapons from the port city. Officer-in-charge (OC) of Double Mooring Police Station Abul Qasim Bhuiyan gave this information to the media on Friday (February 11) at noon.
The arrested are Md. Hasan Mahmud (40), Md. Anwar Hossain Sohag (35), Md. Abdul Matin (50), Midul Islam Hamza (22), Sumon Al Hasan Prakash Md. Sumon (28), Md. Rona (30) and Md. Bablu Prakash Babul (28). OC Abul Qasim Bhuiyan said three people were arrested in a raid around 12:30 pm on Thursday (February 10) on the basis of reports that they were stationed with domestic weapons for robbery in front of the Postar Par Jame Mosque at Dewanhat junction.
During the night raids in Akbarshah and Halishahar police stations of the city, 4 more members of the gang were arrested. Three steel tip knives, 14 different brands of mobiles, a wallet and Tk 15,600 in cash (snatched) were recovered from them.
