Risingbd.com :Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police and chief of Counter Terrorism Unit of police Monirul Islam said that police came up with a ray of light, saying that seven more suspected killers have been identified over the killing of blogger-writer Avijit Roy.The DMP spokesperson came up with the statement while addressing a press conference at DMP media centre in the capital on Thursday noon.Monirul Islam said, “Two of the suspected killers have taken part in the direct killing of Avijit Roy. Police are trying to arrest them.” Earlier, eight suspected killers were arrested following the killing. They are now behind the bar. DNA sample of some of them have been collected which will be sent to CID lab for test. The report of DNA sample tested in USA lab has yet to be submitted, he added.Monirul further said that submissions of FBI report and CID’s DNA report and arrest of identified accused will be perhaps at the same time which will help prove the real culprits for the killing.On February 26 last year, Avijit Roy, 45, a US citizen of Bangladeshi origin, was hacked to death and his wife Rafida Ahmed Bonya, 35, was seriously injured in an attack by unidentified assailants near the TSC at Dhaka University after the couple came out of the Ekushey Book Fair.
