At least seven persons were killed and several others critically injured in separate road accident in the country on Saturday and Friday night.
In Gazipur, two drivers were killed as their trucks collided head-on the Dhaka-Tangail Highway in Kaliakair upazila of Gazipur on Saturday morning.
The deceased were identified as Mizan, 28, son of one Dulal Mia of College Para area of Rangpur Sadar and Delwar Hossain, 23, son of one Kebar Uddin in Hatia Rajbari area under Sakhipur Upazila of
Tangail. Two others were seriously injured. Gorai Highway Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Md Tarifuzzaman confirmed the matter to media.
In Bagerhat , a school headmaster was killed in a road accident in Fatehpur area under Kachua Upazila of Bagerhat district on Saturday. Deceased Modasser Ali, 50, was the headmaster of Doibaggahati Secondary High School in the Upazila, according to police.
A bus ran over Modasser in the area around 10:00am when he stood beside road, leaving him dead on the spot.
The body was sent to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital morgue.
In Thakurgaon, two motorcyclists were killed when a tractor rammed their bikes in front of Gazirhat Degree College of Ranisankail Upazila on Friday night.
The deceased were identified as Abdus Sabur, 24, son of one Abdur Rashid, a resident of Amjuan village and Jahangir Alam, 25, son of Faizul Islam of the Upazila.
Abdul Mannan, Officer-in-Charge of Ranisankail Police Station, said that the accident took place when the tractor rammed the motorcycle, leaving riders Sabur and Jahangir critically injured.
The injured were admitted to Ranisankail Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared them dead.
In Pabna, a van driver named Tayyab Hossain, 50, was killed in a road accident when a trolley rammed him in Chatmohar of the district. The accident occurred at 8:30 am on Saturday beside the graveyard of the Shikkola area.
Chaikola Union Parishad Chairman Nazrul Islam confirmed the news to media. In Gaibandha, an old person was killed in a road crash when a private car of Union Parishad Chairman hit him at Sadullapur upazila of the district on Friday night.
