7 more killed in road crashes

At least seven persons including two vegetable traders were killed and many others seriously injured in several road crashes across the country on Thursday.
In Gazipur, two vegetable traders were killed in a tragic road crash at Mulaid of Sreepur upazila early Thursday.
The accident took place on the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway.
The deceased were identified as Selim Miah, 35, son of one late Gafur Mia of Jamalpur sadar and Habib Miah, 25, son of one Sobhan Miah of Sreepur upazila.
Local sources said that Selim and Habib, with loaded vegetables, were heading to Dhaka at midnight. When it reached near Mulaid of Sreepur upazila, a recklessly driven vehicle rammed it from back, leaving one dead on the spot and another critically injured.
The injured was taken to Upazila health Complex where doctors declared him dead.
The bodies were handed over to family members with autopsy as per their request.
Md Delwar Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Mawna Highway Police,
told the matter to the media. In Chattogram, two persons were killed and two others seriously injured when a truck collided head on with a CNG driven auto-rickshaw on the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar Highway in Patiya upazila early Thursday.
The accident occurred around 12am, in Monsar Tek area.
The deceased were identified as Ali Bahadur, 58 and Dayal Shil, 40, inhabitants of Char Kanai area of Patiya.
Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Alauddin Talukder told the media that four persons who sustained injuries in the collision between a betel leaf laden truck and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw were taken to CMCH. Two of them were declared dead by the duty doctor in the hospital, SI added.
In Kurigram, a trolly driver named Abdus Salam, 40, was killed after it overturned in front of BRAC Office in Bhurangamari Upazila of the district on Thursday.
Imtiaz Kabir, Officer-in-Charge of Bhurangamari Police Station confirmed the news to the media.
In Gaibandha, a pedestrian named Razo Sheikh, 36, was killed when a truck rammed him in Helipad area on the Rangpur-Dhaka Highway under Gobindaganj upazila of the district on Thursday.
Akteruzzaman, Officer-in-Charge of Gobindaganj Police Station told the matter to the media.
