At least seven persons including three Eid shoppers and the motorcycle riders were killed and 20 others seriously injured in separate tragic road crashes across the country just ahead of Eid-ul-Fitar on Saturday.
In Dhaka, a female motorcycle rider was killed and her husband seriously injured in a tragic accident when a construction truck rammed them in front of Aziz Co-Operative Super Market in the city’s Shahbag area on Saturday dawn.
The accident took place when the couple was returning after Eid shopping from New Market area.
The victim was identified as Nurunnhar, 25, and her injured husband Halim, 30, who was driver of the bike. Nurunnhar is from Lakpur village under Tarail upazila of Kishoreganj, and she was the mother of two children.
Champak Chakrabarti, Sub-Inspector of Shahbag Police Station, told the matter media.
In Faridpur, at least two persons were killed and three others injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a truck in the Sadar upazila of the district on Saturday.
Of the two, one of the deceased was driver by profession. His home district is Magura.
Nurul Alam Dulal, an Official of Faridpur Fire Service and Civil Defence confirmed the matter to the media.
In Gazipur, at least two motorcycle riders, who were blood brothers in relation were killed in a tragic road crash while returning home after Eid shopping on the Kapasia-Raniganj Road under Kapasia upazila of the district on Saturday noon.
The deceased were identified as Abdur Rahman, 55, son of one Abdur Rashid and his younger brother Khorshed Alam from Durghapur.
In Natore, a housewife named Hafsa Begum, 21, was killed and her husband Milon Hossain injured in a motorcycle incident in the district town on Friday evening.
