Reckless driving on the streets on Tuesday killed at least seven persons, including two in the city, and injured many others, and thereby shed blood and broke the hearts of the family members.
In Dhaka, at least two pedestrians including a rickshwapuller were killed when a passenger bus rammed them near the Matsya Bhaban in the morning.
One of the deceased was identified as Suman,26, while other could not be known. His aged is 60.
Jahirul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Ramna Police Station, confirmed the matter that around 7:00am, six buses and private cars, engaged in unruly competition on the streets. At one stage, a vehicle named Sadhin hits two pedestrians near Matsya Bhaban, leaving a person dead on the spot and injured four others, the OC said.
The vehicles, including a bus of Swadhin Paribahan, were seized and towed to the police station, the OC added.
In Brahmanbaria, a minor girl died after falling from a battery-run auto-rickshaw in Sadar upazila of district on Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Tanha, 6, was the daughter of one Shahjahan Mia, a resident of Natai village in the upazila.
Sadar Police Station Officer in-Charge (OC) Selim Uddin confirmed the matter.
In Natore, a passenger of an auto van named Sreepad Sarkar, 60, died when a bus pushed him in Baraigram upazila of the district.
The accident took place in front of Bonpara Police Inspection center on the Natore-Pabna Highway on Tuesday.
Bonpara Highway Police Station’s Sergeant Md Sarwar Hossain told the news to the media.
In Sirajganj, a pedestrian named Abdur Rahim Mondal, 40, was killed when a covered van overturned on the Bangabandhu Bridge West Link Highway at Salonga in Sirajganj district on Tuesday. The accident occurred around 9:30am. Hatikumrul Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Abdul Kader Jilani confirmed the matter to media.
In Cox Bazar, a development worker named Ata Elahi,28, was killed when a truck rammed him at Malumgate under Chokaria upazila of the district on Monday evening.
Jashim Uddin, Sub-Inspector of Malumgate Highway Police confirmed the news to the media.
In Gaibandha, a minor girl named Sharmin, 8, breathed his last when a easy bike hit her in Chandipur area under Sundarganj upazila of the district on Monday evening.
