At least seven more persons reportedly died of dengue in different hospital and clinics in six district in last 24 hours since Monday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Fatema Akter, 21, from Bnadar area of Narayanganj district, Mizanur Rahman, 40, from Rupsa Upazila of Khulna district, Anowar Hossain, 40, in habitant of Kendua upazila of Netrokona district, Selim Hossain, 27, Durgapur upazila in the same district, Rasel Mia, 32, from Pakundia upazila of Kishoreganj district, Delwar Hossain, 35, from Faridpur Sadar upazila, and Sumaiya Akter, 18, hailed from Dumki upazila of Patuakhali district.
 On the other hand, a total of 1,615 dengue patients have been admitted to different hospitals across Bangladesh in the last 24 hours.
Among them, 757 patients were admitted in Dhaka and 858 in divisions outside Dhaka.
In Khulna, Mizanur Rahman was admitted to the hospital with dengue fever on August 15 and died at 7:00am yesterday, said Dr. Sailendranath Biswas, resident medical officer of Khulna Medical College Hospital.
At least 20 new patients were admitted to different hospitals in the district in the last 24 hours till Monday morning while 69 patients are undergoing treatment. In Faridpur, Delwar Hossain died around 10:00am after being diagnosed with dengue at Faridpur Medical College Hospital, said Kamda Prasad Saha, director of the hospital. Delwar’s father Sheikh Safiuddin said that they admitted Delwar to Faridpur Sadar Hospital with dengue fever and later shifted him to Faridpur Medical College Hospital on Sunday night.
At least 57 new patients were admitted to different hospitals in the district in the last 24 hours till Monday morning while 346 patients are undergoing treatment.
In Mymensingh, Anwar Hossain, hailing from Kendua in Netrakona, was admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital after having infected with dengue on August 11.
He breathed his last around 5:00am yesterday at the hospital, said Dr Laxmi Narayann Mazumdar, deputy director of the hospital. Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), in a press release issued on Monday, said the number of admitted patients currently undergoing treatment in government and private hospitals combined is 6,733.
The number of new infections at district level also declined in the last 24 hours from Sunday’s 972 to 858 on Monday. A total of 40 dengue patients have died across Bangladesh from January 1 till August 19, according to their own collected data. However, the unofficial death toll is reported to be over 100, so far. A total of 3,419 patients are currently receiving treatment in 41 government and private hospitals in Dhaka, whereas a total of 3,314 people are undergoing treatment outside Dhaka, the release said. Since January 1 till August 17, a total of 54,797 people have been affected by dengue.
Among those admitted, a total of 48,028 have been released from their respective hospitals and clinics after treatment.
