Staff Reporter :
A seven-month old baby, who was put in an isolation ward of Kushtia General Hospital on Thursday on suspicion of coronavirus infection, has tested negative.
Tapas Kumar Sarkar, Resident Medical Officer of the hospital, confirmed it on Monday citing test report of Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research.
The IEDCR in its report also advised the doctors to give the baby treatment, assessing illness. The baby was taken to the hospital first on Wednesday with fever, cold and cough and returned home after receiving treatment.
On that day, the family in the face of repeated questions denied that the child came into contact with any returnee from abroad.
As his condition worsened the following day, the family took the baby to pediatric ward where they admitted that his father returned home on March 9 from Singapore.
Then the hospital authority took the baby to isolation unit and sent the nasal and throat swab to IEDCR for test.
