Deputy Commissioner of Chattogram Md Ilias Hossain said more than 7 lakh people will get opportunities of jobs in the proposed Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpa Nagar . He disclosed it while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the largest Economic zone of Mirsarai EZ at DC Conference Hall in the morning.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Shilpa Nagar through video conference .
Deputy Commissioner in his brief deliverations said following the inauguration of the MEZ , new chapter in the history of Chattogram established. He also added that the total investment in the industrial zone expected 1,204 billion US dollar .
Among others, former Minister Engr.Mosharraf Hossain, Lt.Gen. Masud Uddin chowdhury MP, Divisional commissioner Md. Abdul Mannan , DIG Police of Chattogram Range Khondakar Golam Faruk, Zill Police Super Nure Alam Mina, Vice chairman of Basundara Group Safian Sobhan, CCCI President Mahbubul Alam , First Vice President of BGMEA Nasiruddin Chowdhury were present on the occasion.
Sighting of commercial capital not far away : Government has taken immediate measures to turn the Port City into Commercial Capital .
Due to various reasons , the concept of Commercial Capital could not be fulfilled earlier despite commitments of the previous governments. To fulfill the concept, Prime Minister’s office has constituted a implementation committee headed by Divisional commissioner of Chattogram Abdul Mannan as Chairman and the Deputy Commissioner Md. Elias Hossain as member secretary recently. This was disclosed by the Chief Coordinator of Prime Minister’s office Md. Abul Kalam Azad while addressing the review meeting on Bangabandhu Shilpanagar at Chattogram Circuit House Auditorium on Friday.
He said Prime Minister has declared Chattogram as Commercial capital of the country which was not in fact implemented due to a various reasons and now PM is very keen to implement the concept through constituting a committee very recently. He said in the new committee of commercial capital, representatives from City Corporastion, CDA , CWASA, Ctattogram CHAMBEr will be included .
Md. Abul Kalam said the new committee will sit by next one or two month to find the ways and means to implement the commercial capital concept aimed at sighting the fullfledged commercial concept very shortly .
The chief coordinator of PM’s office Abul Kalam further apprised that power and gas connections in the proposed Shilpanagar consists of Mirsarai EZ, Sitakunda EZ and Feni EZ will begin from july next . In the proposed shilpanagar, a numbers of investors from home and abroad will invest there, he added.
He said infrastructure development of Shilpanagar will begin soon . Among others, Chairman of BEZA Paban chowdhury, additional divisional commissioner(general) Shankar Shaha, Chairman of CPA Rear Admiral Zulfikar Aziz, chairman of CDA Abdus Salam, Deputy commissioner Md. Elias Hossain were present in the review meeting.
