Joint General Secretary of the ruling Awami League Jahangir Kabir Nanak on Wednesday said about seven lakh people have been given employment opportunity in the Information Technology (IT) sector.
The senior AL leader said this as chief guest while inaugurating the academic building and modern ICT laboratory by the Education Engineering Department at a cost of Taka 6.50 crore at Mohammadpur Mohila College here.
Nanak told the function that the present government is working to create employment avenues for 20 lakh people in the IT sector and earn 5 billion US dollar by the year 2021.
IT sector has already provided employment for seven lakh people, he said, adding that a total of 28 high-tech parks are being constructed in the country which will create huge employment for the youths.
Chaired by Mohammadpur Mohila College Principal M Aminul Haq, the function was also attended, among others, by Bangladesh Bureau of Educational Information and Statistics (BANBEIS) Director General M Fasihullah and Education Engineering Department (EED)’s Assistant Engineer SM Shahinur Islam.
