Staff Reporter :At least seven persons were killed and nine others injured in four separate road accidents in Kalihati and Ghatail upazilas of Tangail district on Tuesday morning.The injured were admitted to Tangail Medical College and Hospital and local clinics, police said. Bangabandhu Bridge (East) Police Station’sOfficer-in-Charge (OC) Akheruzzaman said that, a taxi collided head-on with a sand-laden truck at Sholla in Kalihati upazila at around 7.45 am, leaving four people dead on the spot and five others injured.One of the deceased was identified as taxi driver Tohidul Islam, 32, resident of city’s Mirpur-13. The identities of the other persons could not be known instantly.Meanwhile, a truck hit an auto-rickshaw near the Bangabandhu Bridge, leaving the three-wheeler’s passenger Mohammed Ali, 35, from Daupura village in Kalihati upazila dead on the spot, the police official said. On the other hand, a truck rammed into an ambulance coming from the opposite direction on the Bangabandhu Bridge at about 9:00am, killing its driver Sirajul Islam, 40, on the spot.At Ghatail, a rod-laden truck struck an auto-rickshaw from the opposite direction at Athardana at about 10 am, leaving passenger Lakkhan Chandra Pal, 42, dead on the spot and four others injured, said Ghatail thana OC Mokhlesur Rahman.
