7 killed in separate road accidents across country

At least seven people have been killed in two separate road accidents in Cumilla and Chapainawabganj and Sylhet.
A head-on collision between a truck and an autorickshaw left two people dead and three others injured in Chapainawabganj’s Shibganj Upazila, reports bdnews24.om .
The incident took place on the Chapainawabganj-Sonamasjid highway around 10 am Saturday, Shibganj Police OC Farid Hossain.
The dead have been identified as Harun Ali, 26, and Renuara Begum, 53.
The victims of the accident were rushed to Shibganj Health Complex where doctors declared Harun and Renuara dead, said OC Farid.
Police later arrested the truck driver and his assistant.
In Cumilla, three people died after a bus ploughed into an autorickshaw. Two others were injured in the incident that took place on the Cumilla-Noakhali highway around 10:45 am Saturday, according to the police.
The authorities have been able to identify two of the dead so far. They are the autorickshaw driver Md Rafi, 23, and passenger Shahadat Hossain, 30.
The Dhaka-bound ‘Himachal Paribahan’ was initially involved in a high-speed collision with a tractor before hitting the autorickshaw at Natherpetua.
Rafi along with Shahadat and another passenger died on the spot, police said.
Law enforcers later rescued two others from the scene and sent them to a hospital. One of the injured is in critical condition, according to police.
The death toll from the incident is expected to rise, said Inspector Zafar Iqbal of Natherpetua Police Outpost.
In Sylhet, two people of a family were killed and four others injured in a collision between a private car and a pickup van in Golapganj Upazila of the district on Saturday, reports BSS.
The deceased were identified as Shafiq Uddin, 70, hailed from Beanibazar Upazila and his grandson Aryan, 01.
Police said the accident occurred at around 11:30 am at Ranaping Fazilpur on Sylhet-Jockyganj Highway. Shafiq Uddin and Aryan were brought at Golapganj Upazila Health complex where duty doctor Sharmin Akhter declared them dead.
Injured Shafiq Uddin’s wife, his daughter, granddaughter and the driver of the private car were sent to MAG Osmani Medical College and Hospital, said Officer-in-Charge of Golapganj Model Thana Harunur Rashid Chowdhury.
