At least seven people including six of a family were killed as a microbus rammed into a battery-run easy bike in the district. The deadly road accident took place at around 10:00am on Gopalganj-Kotalipara highway at Majhigati under Shibpur upazila on Saturday. The deceased were identified as Khokon Shikdar, 45, son of Nashu Shikdar of Teligati village under Kathi union of Sadar upazila, his mother Katebunnesa, 70, wife, Chaina Begum, 40, daughters Anny, 16, and Chadni, 8, nephew Shakib Shikdar and the easy bike driver Delowar, 35. All the seven killed were travelling on the easy bike, police said. The microbus hit the Kotalipara-bound easy bike from the opposite direction, Md Salim Reza, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gopalganj Sadar Police Station. Six passengers dead on the spot while another died on his way to the Gopalganj Sadar hospital, the police official said. Two others, who also sustained injuries in the accident, were rushed to the Sadar hospital, the OC added.
