Police in a drive arrested seven leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir while they were holding a ‘clandestine meeting’ in court area of the city on Friday. Asaduzzaman, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Model Police Station, said on secret information, a team of police launched a raid on a room of District Lawyers’ Association’s office in the area and arrested the seven Jamaat-Shibir men while they were holding a secret meeting there at about 10:30 am. However, their other associates fled the scene sensing the presence of the law enforcers.
A case was filed in this connection.
