Seven cases of Indian Covid variant has been detected in Nawabganj upazila of Dhaka district.
Health authorities said that the Indian variant of coronavirus has been found in a group of workers of the upazila.
“About 10 workers of Nawabgonj, came from Chapainawabganj district, were tested for coronavirus and seven of them were found to be infected with the Indian variant,” Dr Mohammad Shahidul Islam, Upazila Health Officer said it on Saturday night.
On May 18, the 10 workers came to join Matabpur Ashrayan Project at Nawabganj’s Keilile union. They all came in a truck along with 63 other people. Some of them were suffering from cough, fever and cold related sickness.
On May 25, a medical team was formed and collected samples from some of the workers. After laboratory tests, the reports of 10 workers came out Covid-19 positive.
