At least seven more persons including a collage girl were killed and several others critically injured in separate road crashes across the country on Monday.
In Dhaka, a woman named Champa Das (25) was killed when a pick-up van rammed her in the capital’s Tikatuli area on the Hanif Flyover.
The accident took place around 10:30 am on Monday.
Pedestrians rescued her and rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the doctor declared her dead at 12 pm.
Deceased Champa was the daughter of one Gouranga Das of Comilla Daudkandi upazila.
Police Camp Incharge of DMK Hospital (SI) Bachchu Mia confirmed the news to media.
In Joypurhat, A van driver named Rubel Hossain, 33, was killed and four others seriously injured in a road accident when a truck hit them in Baniaipara area under Joypurhat sadar upazila.
The accident took place around 10am on Monday on the Joypurhat-Bogra Road near the Baniapara Dalim Filling Station.
The deceased Rubel was the son of Majlum Hossain from Kamragram Westpara area. Joypurhat thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sirajul Islam told the news media.
In Rajshahi, a man named Masudur Rahman, 39, was killed in a collision between a motorbike and a bus on the Rajshahi-Dhaka highway in front of the Wheat Research Office in Rajshahi city on Monday morning.
The deceased was the son of Ashikar Rahman from Ghoramara area under Boalia Police Station (PS) of the city.
Officer-in-Charge of Katakhali Police Station Nibaran Chandra Barman said it to media.
In Gazipur, a motorcyclist was killed in a road accident when a truck rammed into a motorcycle at Balagaon Chowdhury Bari area in Kaliganj upazila of Gazipur district on Monday.
The deceased identified as Lal Mia, 40, was a resident of Choutarpara village in the upazila, said Kaliganj Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Md Sultan Uddin Khan.
The body was handed over to the victim’s family.
However, an unnatural death case was filed with the police station, the SI added.
In Khulna, a college student named Mohammad Shakil was killed when a bus struck his bicycle at Shiromoni Badamtola in the city on Sunday night.
Shawkat Ali, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Khan Jahan Ali police station said that the accident occured at 10:45pm when a bus of ‘Hanif Paribahan’ rammed the bicycle, leaving Shakil dead on the spot.
In Magura, a schoolgirl named Bonya Khatun, 13, was killed when a truck struck her in Katakhali area of the upazila on Monday.
The deceased was the daughter of Billal Hossain from Mohishadanga village in Sadar upazila.
Sirajul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Police Station, said that the truck rammed Bonnya when she was crossing the road on the way to her school, leaving her dead on the spot.
Police detained the truck driver and seized the truck, he added.
In Panchagarh, a child named Mim Akter (5) was killed in a microbus collision in Debiganj upazila of Panchagarh district.
The incident took place on the Boda-Debiganj highway in Laksmirhat Dangapara area on Monday noon.
Mim was the daughter of Moin Ali.
Debiduba Union Parishad (UP) Chairman Abdur Razzak confirmed the news to media.
