Police arrested four fake members of the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and three dacoits in the city’s Jatrabari and Khilgaon areas in separate drives respectively early Tuesday. Police also seized some handcuffs, two microbuses, a private car and firearms. The arrested men have been identified as Jakir Hossain alias Suman, 27, Abu Bakkar Siddiq alias Rony, 28, Md Alamin, 32, and Md Iqbal Hossain, 25.On the other hand, the dacoits have been identified as Anisuzzaman, 30, Nuruzzaman, 32 and Md Suman Bhuiyan, 30, police said. DMP’s Assistant Commissioner (AC) Mahmud Naser confirmed the matter and said that a team of police conducted a drive in front of Institute of Child and Mother Health (ICMH) at Matuail in Jatrabari and arrested the fake DB members along with the arms and the vehicles. He further said that, more than four cases were filed against them with the city’s Jatrabari, Shah Ali, Banani and Kafrul police stations. On the other hand, a special team of police conducted a drive at Nandipara in Khilgaon and arrested the three robbers. At that time, they were taking preparation to commit robbery. Other accomplices of them managed to flee the spot, the AC said. The OC said that a case had been registered with the Khilgaon Police Station in this connection. All the arrested persons are being interrogated, the AC further said.
