Detective Branch (DB) of Police arrested seven persons from the city’s Khilkhet area on Saturday night suspecting their link with the banned Islamic outfit Hizb-ut-Tahrir Bangladesh.
The identities of the arrested men could not be known instantly, police said.
Muntasirul Islam, Deputy Commissioner (Media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said, “Acting on a tip-off, a cyber crime prevention
 team of the DB conducted a raid in the area and picked up them.”
He said that, the arrested persons used to recruit members through online. “Police are interrogating them,” the police official said, “Whether they have link with other militant groups.”
On September 4, a pre-announced online conference of Hizb-ut-Tahirir Bangladesh was held. On September 8, State Minister for Posts and Telecommunications Division Tarana Halim wanted to know from the Bangladesh Telecommunication and Regulatory Commission (BTRC) as to how did the outfit militant organization arrange the conference.
