Staff Reporter :The members of Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan police (DMP) in separate drives seized five foreign pistols, eight magazines, 24 rounds of bullet, a dagger and a private car from different places in the city on Saturday night. They also arrested seven persons in this connection. The detained persons were identified as Kamal Hossain, 36, Ruhul Amin, 30, Monituzzaman Shimul, 39, Zulhas Akand, 48, Abdus Sattar, 45, Raki Hossain, 32, and Emdad Hossain, 30.DB spokesman and Joint-Commissioner Monirul Islam disclosed this at in a pres briefing at Media Centre on Minto Road on Sunday noon. Monitul Islam said that a DB team conducted a drive at Kallayanpur following an information and arrested Kamal, Ruhil and Shimul and seized five foreign firearms, 24 rounds of bullet, a dagger and a car from their possession. On the other hand, another team of the intelligence branch conducted a drive in Azimpur Shaheed Mazar area and nabbed Zulhas, Sattar, Raki and Emdad, the police official said. The arrested persons confessed that they had a link with the illegal arms trade across the country, he said. They also confessed that they were connected with robbery, snatching, and extortion in city and the country’s frontier areas, the police official said.Legal actions are being taken against them, he said.
