Seven members of a robbery gang have been arrested by DB police on the charge committing robbery in a passenger bus in the capital’s Shyamoli on December 19.
A case was filed with Adabar Police Station in this connection.
Arms, two walkie-talkies and some other things were also recovered.
DB police issued a press release in this regard on Thursday.
The arrested have been identified as Fakrul Kabir
Shanto, Md. Rafiq, Md. Riaz, Md. Russell, Md. Shahjamal, Harun Aur Rashid and Humayun Kabir.
All the detainees are accused in multiple robbery cases with different police stations of the country, DB sources added.
It is learned that on December 19, a bus of AK Travels was robbed from city’s Shyamoli area. After the incident, Mohammadpur Team of DB Tejgaon Division investigated the matter and conducted various raids in different areas of the city and arrested seven members of the inter-city robber gang.
ADC Anis Uddin and Shahadat Hossain of DB Tejgaon Division confirmed the news to the media and said that the accused confessed to the bus robbery during interrogation.
According to the notification, the robbers robbed the vehicle by tying the hands and face of the bus driver, supervisor and helper.
The accused have been sent to court. More accused who were involved in the incident will be caught soon, ADC Anis said.
