Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan police arrested seven people, including a woman, for their alleged involvement in the killing of Jubo Dal leader Sento from city’s Meerbagh and Madhubagh areas on Wednesday.
The detectives also seized a microbus which was used by the killers’ gang.
The arrestees are : Morsheda Akhter Priya, 35, the alleged mastermind behind the killing, Sohagh Hassan, 22, Habib, 21, Abul Hasan, 20, Parvez, 22, Sujan Sheikh, 21 and Sohel Rana, 20.
Ziaul Haque Sento, 38, president of Boraigram upazila unit Jubo Dal of Natore district, was stabbed to death by the miscreants at Hatirjheel under Ramna police station on May 16. A case was filed with Ramna police station in connection with the incident.
Briefing reporters at DMP media centre on Thursday afternoon, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of DB-South Krishna Pada Roy said during interrogation, the arrested people confessed their involvement in the killing.
He said, Morsheda Akhter Priya had an extra-marital affair with Jubo Dal leader Sento for a long time.
As Sento married another girl two years back and denied to divorce his wife despite Priya’s request she made a plan to kill him, the DC said quoting Priya. According to the plan, Priya brought Sento in Dhaka and took him to Hatirjheel area in a microbus and killed him with the help of driver Sohag and his hired goons.
