Police on Friday arrested seven people on charges of gang-raping a woman in Gazipur’s Kapasia upazila.
The arrestees are Mahfuzul Huq (20), Mahbubul Hosen Shakib (22), Roman Byapari (20), Masum Sheikh (21), Rakib Hosen (20), Jobayer (21) and Mostarin Sardar (21), our local correspondent reports quoting police. However, the prime accused Sakhawat is still at large, said Sub-Inspector Aminul Islam, officer-in-charge of Kapasia Police Station.
The victim, the mother of one was visiting her father’s house in Kapasia on Thursday. Sakhawat, the prime accused had asked her to meet him at Naraidartek Karaitola on Thursday.
When she went there around 9:30pm, Sakhawat along with seven other raped her, the SI said.
A case is being filed with the police station in this connection, said Farzana Yasmin, assistant superintendent of police (ASP) of Kaliganj circle.
The woman has been sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital for tests, she added.
