Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive arrested seven persons from the city’s Darussalam for their alleged involvement in fraudulence through online shopping platforms on social media.
The arrested men are Sujan Mollah, 26, Hafizul Hasan, 32, Jardis Hossain, 20, Mehedi Hasan, 23, Nur Islam, 19, Parvez Mollah, 19 and Abu Taher, 19, Commanding Officer of RAB-4 Chowdhury Manjurul Kabir.
In a 9-hour long drive conducted since Wednesday night, members of RAB recovered one computer, mobile phone, router and low-quality and fake items from their possession, the RAB official said.
They used to advertise good-quality of products on social media platforms to sell them at a high price, but later sent poor-quality of goods to the customers, he said.
The gang members used to send fake or wrong products to the customers, the official said.
A case was filed with the Darus Salam Police Station in this connection, according to him.
On the other hand, a RAB-10 team detained six muggers from the city’s Jatrabari on Wednesday night.
The accused are Abu Sayeed, 25, Sohel, 19, Sumon Sheikh, 28, Zakir Hossain, 38, Shamim, 19 and Md. Sumon, 23, said Major Md Ashraful Haque of RAB-10.
Five knives, 10 blades and a mobile phone were recovered from their possession, he said.
