A court here on Monday sentenced seven people to life term imprisonment for killing a Krishak League leader Tafazal Hossain in 2010.
The convicts are-Amzad Hossain, son of Akbar Pramanik, Tajir Uddin, son of Maji Pramanik, Ikram Hossain, son of Nur Islam, Akai Mandal, son of Khorshed Ali, Askan Ali, son of Ershad Ali, Jibon Hossain, son of Labin uddin and Zafar Ali, son of Jamaat Ali of Naudapara village in Sadar upazila.
The court also fined them Tk one lakh each, in default, to suffer one more year in rigorous imprisonment.
According to the prosecution, Tofazzal Hossain, 52, President of Ward No-7 unit Krishak League and a resident of Maligaccha in Sadar upazila was killed by some miscreants over previous enmity on October 3, 2010.
Abdul Malek, son of the victim, filed a case with Sadar Police Station on the following day.
Police submitted charge sheet against seven people on May 12, 2011.
After examining records and witnesses, Pabna Additional District and Session Judge Rustom Ali handed down the verdict.
