Seven students of the Development Studies Department of Dhaka University (DU) have been awarded ‘Professor Dr M Asaduzzaman Foundation Scholarship’ for their outstanding academic performance.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman distributed the scholarship among the students at Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury auditorium on the campus on Monday, a DU press release said.
Prof Dr M Asaduzzaman Foundation and the Development Studies Department jointly organised the event observing the 10th death anniversary of former chairman of University Grants Commission (UGC) Prof Dr M Asaduzzaman.
Chairman of the Foundation Professor Emeritus Dr Serajul Islam Chowdhury presided over the function while former Governor of Bangladesh Bank Prof Dr Atiur Rahman delivered ‘Prof M Asaduzzaman Memorial Lecture’.
Chairman of National Board of Revenue (NBR) Mosarraf Hossain Bhuiyan, Vice-Chancellor of ASA University Prof Dr Dalem Chandra Barman, Prof Dr Sukomal Barua, Prof Niaz Ahmed Khan, Prof Dr Taibur Rahman and Prof Dr Mohammad Mainul Islam, among others, spoke on the occasion.
Chairman of the Development Studies Department Prof Dr M Abu Eusuf delivered welcome speech while Fatema Zaman, wife of late Prof M Asaduzzaman, gave vote of thanks.
