Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive detained seven drug traders alongwith five lakh pieces of contraband yaba tablets from a trawler in the Bay of Bengal, near Patenga coast in the city on Wednesday . They also seized a fishing boat in this regard.
The arrested drug traders were identified as Abdul Hamid, Shamsul Alam, Mohammad Altaf Hossain, Mohammad Badiul Alam, Mohammad Jasim Uddin, Akhtar Kamal, and Nasir Uddin. RAB-7 assistant director Chandan Devnath said acting on a tip-off, a team of elite force conducted a drive in several points of the Bay. At one stage of their drive, the RAB team intercepted a trawler, arrested the seven yaba traders and recovered the Yaba tablets after their confessional statement, he added.
