At least seven clothes shops were burnt after a fire broke out at a market in the city early Saturday.
Acting station officer of Rajshahi Sadar Fire Service and Civil Defence Omar Faruk said the fire originated from an electric short circuit at a readymade garment shop of Mainul Super Market in the area at about 1:00 am and soon engulfed six nearby shops.
Informed, three firefighting units from Sadar Fire Service rushed in and doused the flame after half-an-hour.
The extent of loss caused by the fire could not be estimated immediately.
