Prosecution at the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 on Monday submitted formal charge against four alleged Razakars from Satkhira, pressing seven specific charges against them.
“We have brought seven specific charges of crimes against humanity including murder and rape against them,” prosecutor Rezia Sultana Chemon told BSS.
The four accused are M Abdullah Al Baki alias Abdullah Hel Baki, 103, former lawmaker and ameer of Satkhira district Jamaat-e-Islami, Abdul Khaleq Mandol, 72, Khan Rokonuzzaman, 64, and Jahirul Islam alias Jahirul Haque alias Tikka Khan. Of them Mondol is in jail and Baki has been granted bail on health grounds after getting arrested.
“Justice Anwarul Haque, chairman of the three-member panel of the ICT-1, set April 20 for passing order on whether to take the charges into cognizance,” Chemon added.
Earlier on February 8, the investigation agency of the ICT released its probe report in the case. The probe agency launched the investigation in the case on August 7, 2015 and concluded on February 5, 2017.
According to the prosecution, the accused were involved in the murder of six persons, raping of two women and torturing 14 people. Mondol raised a gang of Razakars in the Satkhira Sadar and carried out the gruesome crimes along with his accomplices.
