The torrential rain with the impact of moonson cripples the civic life in the city. On this prevailing natural calamity and waterlogging in city areas, the newly elected city Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin has formally taken official charge as city Mayor yesterday.
Seven challenges now before the table of the new mayor as pledged during his election campaign. These 7 challenges are – waterlogging in city, clean city, corruption free CCC, revival of chain of command in CCC, keep CCC from party influence, eviction of illegal bill boards, and the bringing financial solvency of the corporation.
According to city dwellers and conscious circles, the main and prime task of the city Mayor is to undertake the waterloging problems from very day of his assumption as city mayor. The other challenges should mitigated gradually to fulfill his dream for building mega city.
AJM Nasir Uddin elected city Mayor in the mayoral polls held in April 28 last as a candidate of Chittagong Nagorik Committee.
He swears oath as Mayor on May 6 last but new mayor had to wait 2 months 20 days to take CCC charges as the duration of last elected body expires on July 25. As such new city mayor take charges formally yesterday at Nagar Bhaban in presence of ward councilors, CCC officials, civil society leaders, political leaders and journalists.
Mentionable that AJM Nasir Uddin announced 36- point election manifesto on April 22 last before election.
