Glitch in PM's flight: 7 Biman officials sent to jail after remand

A Dhaka court on Sunday sent seven officials of Biman Bangladesh Airlines to jail on completion of their 8-day remand in a case filed in connection with the technical glitch in a VVIP flight carrying Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Amirul Haider Chowdhury passed the order when Inspector of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) M Mahbubul Alam, also Investigation Officer of the case, produced them in the court with a prayer for sending them to jail.
The court rejected also the bail petitions of the seven Biman officials.
The seven officials are: Biman Chief Engineer Debesh Chowdhury, Chief Engineer (Quality assurance) SS Siddique, Principal Engineer (System and Maintenance) Billal Hossain, Engineers Shamiul Haque, Niron Chandra Bishwas, Lutfar Rahman and Zakir Hossain.
On December, 30 a court placed the seven officials of Biman on an eight-day remand in the case.
A Biman flight carrying the Prime Minister had to make an emergency landing at Ashgabat International Airport in Turkmenistan on her way to Hungary on November 27 in view of the low oil pressure in its engine.
A total of nine officials, including three Engineers of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, had been suspended for their negligence of duty in this connection.
