Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained seven members of banned militant outfit Ansar Al Islam, in a drive conducted in city’s Jatrabari, Mugda and Badda areas early Thursday.
The arrested men are Mohibur Rahman, Ershadul Haq, Kamal Uddin, Sifat Mia, Didarul Islam, Rifat Ullah Sabbir Khan and Shital Mia. All members are coordinator of different units of Ansar Al Islam.
A huge amount of explosives, materials for making bombs, jihadi books were confiscated from the possessions of the detainees, Emranul Hasan, Commanding Officer (CO) of RAB-3, told the reporters in a press briefing at RAB Media Center in the city’s Kawran Bazar on Thursday afternoon.
