Staff Reporter :A team of Customs Intelligence Department recovered 64 gold bars worth Tk 3.75 crore from the city’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) on Saturday morning. They also arrested a man identified as Abdul Latif, 37 in this connection. His home district is Chittagong, Customs officials said. Customs Intelligence Directorate’s Assistant Director Umme Nahida said that Latif had come from Dubai by a flight of Emirates Airlines at about 8:30am. On suspicion, the Customs officials intercepted him when he was about to leave the airport. They searched his body and found 64 gold bars inside three packets of ‘Benson’ brand cigarettes.A case had been registered in this connection, she said.
