Durga Puja will be held in 69 puja mandals in eight unions of the upazila including the municipal headquarters in Panchbibi upazila of Joypurhat in accordance with the 26-point condition of the Central Puja Celebration Council.
According to Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad Panchbibi Upazila branch sources, 15 pujas are going on in Panchbibi municipal town, seven in Bagjana union, 12 in Dharanji, 7 in Aymarsulpur, eight in Balighata, nine in Atapur, one in Mohammadpur, eight in Kusumba and two in Awlai.
According to the calendar, on Thursday, October 22, the goddess’s novelty kalparambha will begin with the sixth puja, and on that day the sound of drums and cans will be heard in the mandapa mandapa. The five-day autumn Durga Puja will end on Friday 23rd October with Saptami Puja, 24th October with Mahaashtami Puja, 25th October with Mahanabami Puja and Monday 26th October with Dashami Vihit Puja and Dussehra. Bangladesh Puja Udyapan Parishad Panchbibi Upazila Branch President Professor Sunil Roy said that so far no risky puja mandapa has been identified.
