Staff Reporter :A total of 7,38,872 students, out of 10,61,614, passed the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and its equivalent examinations this year.The success rate is 69.60 per cent where it was 78.33 per cent last year. A total of 42,894 students secured GPA-5 this year against 70,602 last year. Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid announced the results at a press briefing at Secretariat at 1:00pm on Sunday.Earlier in the morning, the Education Minister handed over the results to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence Ganobhaban at 10.00am.Education Secretary Nazrul Islam Khan conducted the function, while PMO Secretary Suraiya Begum, PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim, senior officials of the Education Ministry and Chairmen of the 10 Education Boards were present.Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, “The success rate would have been higher, if the BNP-Jamaat had not come up with suicidal programmes.”Nurul Islam Nahid also blamed the BNP’s agitation for the relative lower pass rate of HSC. A total of 1,133 educational institutions have achieved 100 per cent pass in the HSC and its equivalent examinations-2015 across the country.Of them, 33 institutions are from Dhaka Board, 26 from Rajshahi, six from Comilla, three from Jessore, four from Chittagong, five from Barisal, 13 from Sylhet, 22 from Dinajpur, while the number of 100 per cent successful institutions under Madrasa Education Board is 834 and 183 under Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB).A total of 1,147 educational institutions achieved 100 per cent pass in the HSC and its equivalent exams last year.Meanwhile, students of 35 colleges and madrasas under six out of 10 Education Boards failed to come out successful in this year’s HSC and equivalent examinations.The number of zero pass rate institutions is five in Dhaka Board, five in Rajshahi Board, 13 in Jessore Board, five in Barisal Board, five in Dinajpur Board and two in Madrasa Board. The number of colleges and madrasas with ‘zero results’ was 24 last year.Among the GPA-5 achievers, 23,293 are boys with 69.04 per cent pass rate and 19,601 girls with 70.23 per cent pass rate.A total of 8,76,476 students sat for the examinations under eight general Education Boards.The success rate in Dhaka Board is 68.16 per cent, in Chittagong Board 63.49 per cent, in Comilla Board 59.80 per cent, in Rajshahi Board 77.54 per cent, in Dinajpur Board 70.43 per cent, in Barisal Board 70.06 per cent, in Jessore Board 46.45 per cent and in Sylhet Board 74 per cent. A total of 70,461 candidates out of 82,558 came out successful in the examinations under the Madrasa Education Board with 90.19 per cent pass rate while a total of 98,296 students took part in the examinations under the Technical Education Board and 89,125 passed with a success rate of 85.58 per cent.The results show that a total of 34,721 students scored GPA-5 under the eight Educational Boards, 1,435 candidates under the Madrasa Education Board and 6,430 students under the Technical Education Board.This year, girls shone brighter than boys. The pass rate for 4,97,662 girls appearing in HSC or equal tests was 70.23 per cent while that for 5,65,952 boys was 69.04 per cent.The students will be able to get their results at their institutions and also on the Education Ministry website from 2:00pm.For knowing grades on mobile phones, one will have to type HSC< space> first three letters of the education board< space> roll number 2015, and send the SMS to 16222.Vocational students can access their results by typing HSC Tec< space> roll number 2015, and send the SMS to 16222.Madrasa students can know their results by typing Alim Mad roll number 2015 and send the SMS to 16222. This year, a total of 10,61,614 examinees from 8,294 educational institutions under 10 educational boards across the country took part in the examinations that began on April 1 and ended on June 22.
