Students of Primary and Secondary levels started receiving new books in festive mood in Sylhet city and Thirteen upazilas of the district at the first day of the English New Year 2017.
The government will distribute 82,47,747 copies in primary free new books in secondary level in the Sylhet division.
DC of Sylhet Joinal Abadin formally inaugurated The book distribution programme at 10.00 pm in Blue bird High School in the Sylhet City.
He also spoke as the chief guest.
Head Teacher of Blue bird High School were also present there with others.
BSS from Khulna reports: The Textbook Festival Day-2017 was celebrated here on Saturday with distribution of free textbooks to primary and higher secondary level school students.
As part of the countrywide free textbooks distribution programme,
Department of secondary and higher secondary education of Khulna region organised divisional level books distribution programme at Khulna Zila School ground.
Lawmaker of Khulna-two constituency Mizanur Rahman Mizan inaugurated the ceremony as the chief guest by handing over textbooks among the students with Deputy Director of the Department of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education of Khulna region TM Zakir Hossain in the chair.
The chief guest said it is a great achievement for the present government to hand over free textbooks to the primary, secondary and madrasa students on January 1 on the occasion of the Happy New Year.
He also said that government is also determine to extend education
facilities among physically challenged students.
A total of 2,42,62,117 textbooks were distributed among 18,7,162 students in Khulna region.
Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) Md Faruk Hossain, Chairman of Khulna Zila Parishad Sheikh Harun-ur-Rashid, Khulna Deputy Commissioner Nazmul Ahsan, President of Sadar thana AL advocate Saiful Alam, Headmaster of Zila School Md Ariful Islam and District Education Officer Khandokar Ruhul Ameen addressed the ceremony, among others.
BSS Rangpur says: Thousands of the students of primary and secondary level educational institutions became happy getting new books to celebrate the “National Textbook Distribution Festival-2017” on the New Year’s Day on Saturday.
Government officials, public representatives, educationists, sociocultural activists and elite formally launched distribution of the cost-free government new textbooks among the students in all eight districts in the division amid huge festivity.
The government has allocated 1,41,46,428 pieces of new textbooks for distribution among 26,42,000 students of 18,184 primary and secondary level schools, madrashas and vocational institutions in Rangpur division.
Mayor of Rangpur Sarfuddin Ahmed Jhantu, Divisional Commissioner Kazi Hasan Ahmed and Deputy Commissioner Rahat Anwar formally launched the festival through distributing new textbooks at different schools in Rangpur city.
The Deputy Commissioners, District Secondary Education and Primary Education Officers, Upazila Nirbahi Officers, public representatives and elite inaugurated the book distribution festival in other seven district and 58 upazila headquarters of the division.
Divisional Deputy Director for Primary Education Mahbub Elahi informed BSS that there will be no shortage of books as the government allocated the new textbooks for the students at different levels as per demand.
Students of class Aklima and Soumen of class five, Muhaimenul Islam Protik and Sumona of class four, Nahiyan and Deepti of class three, Humayun and Ankhi of class two of different schools in the city expressed happiness after getting the new books.
Guardian Khaleda Yasmin Alo of Keranipara area in the city said she was happy as her son Protik got new textbooks of class four on first January and expressed deep gratitude to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for the epoch-making initiative.
BSS from Rajshahi adds: Primary and secondary level students have started getting new textbooks in festive mood in the city and nine upazilas of the district like other parts of the country on Saturday, the first day of the new year 2017.
According to the sources concerned, book distribution ceremony has been arranged in every school to handover books among the students.
District and upazila level officials’ concerned, public representative and local elites were present at all their respective ceremonies to inspire the students.
In Rajshahi city, divisional, metropolitan and district level high officials launched the book distribution activities formally at a function held at PTI Primary School.
Fazley Hossain Badsha, MP, attended and addressed the Rajshahi divisional, metropolis and district level National Textbook Festival-2017 ceremony as chief guest with Abul Khayer, Divisional Deputy Director of Department of Primary Education, in the chair.
Commissioner of Rajshahi division Abdul Hannan, Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Kazi Ashraf Uddin, Deputy Director of Department of Secondary and Higher Education Dr Shormin Ferdous Chowdhury and District Primary Education Officer Abul Kashem spoke as special guests.
Chief Guest Lawmaker Badsha said the present government has been distributing free books to the school students aimed at ensuring education for all to free the nation from the curse of illiteracy.
Meanwhile, Rajshahi Education Board School and College organized a colourful book distribution function at its premises with principal Taifur Rahman in the chair.
Former Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation AHM Khairuzzaman Liton and Chairman of Rajshahi Education Board Prof Abul Kalam Azad and its Secretary Dr Anarul Haque Pramanik spoke on the occasion, among others.
DPEO Abul Kashem told BSS that required number of books were sent to all the government and registered non-government schools in the district for distribution among the students.
