Police have arrested 68 people on charges of drug peddling and abuse in a special anti-narcotics drive in Dhaka.
The arrests were made during a 24-hour drive at different parts of the capital ending on Friday morning, said Md Masudur Rahman, deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
Police recovered 1476 methamphetamine-based yaba tablets, 2780 rolls of heroin, cannabis and 14 bottles of Phensedyl cough syrup from the detainees.
Fifty cases have been started under the Narcotics Control Act against the perpetrators at various police stations, said Masudur.
