67 admission seekers vie for each seat at JnU

Around 67 admission seekers will vie for each seat at Jagannath University (JnU), as over 1.85 lakh students have applied for admission into the first year first semester Honours courses under 2015-16 academic year in 32 departments under six faculties, said a university press release on Friday.
The deadline for submission of the admission forms ended at midnight of September 17.
According to the press release, a total of 1,85,079 admission seekers submitted their applications for admission in the university under the session 2015-2016.
The highest number of students has applied for ‘D’ unit where about 89 students will contest for one seat.
About 57,705 applicants submitted their forms for ‘A’ unit under Science Faculty while 40,634 for ‘B’ unit under Arts Faculty, 34,688 for ‘C’ unit under Business Faculty, 49,930 for ‘D’ unit under Social Science Faculty, and 2,124 for ‘E’ unit under Fine Arts Faculty.
The science faculty has 760 seats to enroll new students whereas arts faculty 720, business faculty 620, social science faculty 650 and fine arts faculty 100 seats.
However, the date of the examination under different units are scheduled to be held as Unit ‘A’ under Science faculty on October 30, Unit ‘B’ under Humanities faculty on October 9, Unit ‘C’ under Business faculty on October 16, Unit ‘D’ under Social Science faculty on November 6 and Unit ‘E’ under Fine Arts faculty will be held on November 13. All admission tests will be held at 3:00 pm.
Like the previous year, the admission test of JnU will be held under Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) method.
The admission seekers have been advised not to bring mobile phone, calculator or any other electronic devices.
