66 held on various charges in Satkhira, Dinajpur

Police in separate drives arrested 34 people from different parts of the district from Thursday evening to Friday Morning on various charges.
Mizanur Rahman, an inspector of the Special Branch of Satkhira police, said nine of the arrestees were held from Sadar, six from Kalaroa, four from Tala, three from Kaliganj, five from Shyamnagar, four from Ashashuni, one from Debhata and two from Patkelghata upazilas.
BSS, from Dinajpur adds: Police, in special drives from Thursday night to yesterday morning, arrested 28 persons including seven activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and recovered 200 bottles of Phensidyl syrup and 1,200 liters of locally made liquor from eight upazilas of the district. Sources with the district police said they were picked up from different areas of the district.
During the drives, Dinajpur Sadar police arrested nine persons, Khansama Thana police arrested two, Kaharole Thana police two, Hakimpur Thana police arrested two, Birampur police arrested one, Ghoraghat police arrested three, Birganj Thana police arrested two accused, Chirirbandar Thana police arrested seven activists of Jamaat-e-Islami.
Meanwhile, Dinajpur Sadar Thana police in a drive recovered 1,200 liters of locally made liquor in an abandoned condition from the upazila during the period.
Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive recovered 200 bottles of Phensidyl syrup from Hili railway station in Hakimpur upazila in an abandoned condition during the period.
Several cases, including charges of subversive activities, are pending with different police stations against the arrested persons, the sources added.
