Police, in special drives from Friday night to yesterday morning, arrested 36 persons including three alleged drug traders and recovered illegal drugs- 350 bottles of Phensidyl and 600 liters of locally made liquor – from eight upazilas of the district.
Sources with the district police said they were picked up from different areas of the district. Police said, during the drives, Dinajpur Sadar police arrested nine persons including three drug traders with 600 liters of locally made liquor, Phulbari police two, Kaharole four, Parbatipur three, Hakimpur police seven, Bochaganj five, Ghoraghat police three and Biral police arrested three accused.
BSS from Narail adds: Police, in anti-drug drives from Friday night to this morning, arrested 32 persons including four drug traders and recovered 12-gram of ganja, 20 pieces of yaba tablets and three bottles of liquor from four upazilas of the district.
Sources with the district police said they were picked up from different areas of the district.
During the drives, Narail Sadar Thana police arrested nine accused including three drug traders with one bottle of locally made liquor, 20 pieces of Yaba tablets, and 12-gram of ganja, Lohagara Thana police 11 accused including one convicted accused, Kalia police six including one drug trader with two bottles of foreign-made liquor and Noragati Thana police arrested six accused.
Several cases, including charges of subversive activities, are pending with different police stations against the arrested persons, the sources added.
They were sent to jail after producing them before the concerned court, police sources said.
