State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Md Enamur Rahman on Saturday said, 64 upazilas in 10 districts have been affected in floods.
Of the flood affected districts, dire situations are prevailing in Sylhet and Sunamganj, said the state minister adding that such deluge never flooded like this two districts in the history of 122 years.
The state minister said so while speaking at an emergency press conference on the flood situation in the country at the secretariat on Saturday evening.
He said the whole country, including Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, are working together to tackle the ongoing flood crisis. The Prime Minister is supervising the rescue operation in flood-hit areas, he said.
Adequate reliefs are being distributed among the flood victims and rescue operations are underway, said Enamur. He further said, “The Army, the Navy and the Coast Guard are conducting rescue operations. Army will stay until the rescue operation is completed.”
Meanwhile, Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury has reached sylhet flood affected area with 100 tons relief food.
