Dengue outbreak Barishal Region: 64 dengue patients admitted in hospitals

Mosquito borne infectious disease dengue spreading also in Barishal Region affecting 64 and admitting 44 in hospitals in last ten days.
According to Barishal Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital (SBMCH) and Divisional Health Directorate Office in last 10 days 64 dengue patients admitted at different hospitals of the division and till this report 20 patients released and 44 remained under treatment in different hospitals.
Dr. Abdur Rahim, Divisional Health Director, said according to collected information from Barguna, Patuakhali and Bhola districts 20 patients infected with dengue in those three districts.
Among those, 8 patients were in Barguna, 7 in Patuakhali and 5 in Bhola districts were detected as dengue infected.
Out of those 20, two patients of Barguna sent for better treatment to divisional city hospitals and 18 others remained under treatment in concerned districts, the divisional heath director added.
Arun Sutar, 28, a dengue infected patient was admitted at Barishal SBMCH on July 16, but left for Dhaka for better treatment within two days of admission, confirmed Shymal Krishna Mandal, assistant director of divisional health directorate .
Besides Dr. Bakir Hossain, director Barishal SBMCH said 42 dengue infected patients admitted in this hospital from July-16 to till this report in 11 days and out them 17 released and 25 remained under treatment at the hospital.
`All dengue infected patients came here after visiting Dhaka. We yet have not received any direction from health directorate for free-test and only taka three hundred charged for that that test here, the SBMCH director told.
Dengue situation is not crucial as epidemic but alarming. We are afraid that during eid vacation when people came from Dhaka to their native region, dengue out break may turn more severe, he added.
In the private hospital of the city two dengue admitted patients are admitted at Rahat Anowar Hospital.
Dr. Anowar Hossain, director of the hospital, informed that charging taka up to Tk. 2000 for testing dengue each time per patient and follow up in the hospital per term.
