63rd death anniv of Poet Jibanananda observed in Barisal

The 63rd death anniversary of Poet Jibanananda Das was observed at his ancestral city Barisal on Sunday.
Participant of the programme demanded implementation of the Dhansiri River eco- park project and excavation of Dhansiri River, establishing museum at his residence, memorials and sculptures of the poet in places connected with his life, works and memories.
They also stressed for more study and research on life, works, ideology and influence of the poet of Bangla language and literature.
Leaders and activists of Jatiya Kabita Parishad Barisal branch, put floral tribute on the alter of the portrait of the poet at Poet Jibanananda memorial hall constructed at the parental home of the poet on Kabi Jibanananda Das Sarak in the city Sunday morning.
Among others Dr. Mostak Al Mehedi, Mukul Das , Kazi Selina, Apurba Goutam, Advocate Suvas Chandra Das, Partha Sarathi, attended at the programme of putting flower wrath at the portrait of the poet.
After that recitation of poems, , discussion meeting held at that place.
The speakers discussed on life, works, and achievement of the great poet and his influence on Bangla literature and culture.
Born on February 17, 1899, Jibanananda Das is arguably the most influential romantic poet of the post-Tagore era.
He succumbed to his injuries in a road accident on October 22, 1954 in Kolkata of India.
