Sixty-one new books arrived on the third day of the Amar Ekushey Book Fair. Of them, eight are storybooks, nine novels, five essay books, 13 poems, one biography, four on Liberation War, six travels, three religious, five research books and seven others.
Meanwhile, the number of visitors is on increase day by day. The Bangla Academy authorities hoped that the visitors would exceed the previous records.
Director General of Bangla Academy Professor Shamsuzzaman Khan told The New Nation that the area of the fair had been expanded to Suhrawardy Udyan. That is why the visitors can enter and buy books without hassling. Overall the fair will be successful, he hoped.
The New Books are Fuslano Andhakar of Golam Kibria Pinu, Muktijodhdher Chhoto Galpo of Badal Mehedi, Sesh Bikel of Mahbuba Sultana Asha, Muktijodhdher Agnishakkhi of Rana Jaman, Niotipare Golay Jowa Dimguli of Shakhawat Noyan, Porebari o Mrittuchinhito Kanthashor of Chandan Anwar, Chader Hate Sonar Hari of Omar Faraque Nazmul, Grina of Sajjad Hossain, Noveler Shohor of Sahkur Majid, Bangladesh Tomake Pronam of Mohadeb Shah, Horkishor Babu of Horishankar Joldas, Solim Shobder Tir of Bhuiyan Shafiqul Islam, Arpito Padabali of Syed Shamsul Haque, Vanicer Denish Shaheb of Faridur Reza Sagar, Hominger Deshe of Shahabuddin Nagari, Joto Kando Chiar Nia of Anisul Haque, Bhoy Kingba Valobhasa of Jafar Ikbal, Desh Bibhag : Firay Dekha of Ahmed Rafique, Desh Bhabna of Md Habibur Rahman, Dimwala of Humayun Kabir Dali and Udbhastu Sirij of Sijan Nahian.
A discussion was held on “Moulana Mohammad Akram Kha” in the central podium of the fair.
Professor Abul Quasem Fazlul Haque presided over the discussion while Abdus Sabur Khan presented the keynote paper.
Md Jahangir, Farid Uddin Masud, Aminur Rahman Sultan and SM Borhanuddin took part in the discussion.
A fascinating cultural programme was held in the evening, which was participated, among others, by Jhorna Alamgir, Haider Hossain, Asgar Alim, Khagandranath Sarker, Sarder Mohammad Rahamatullah, Rahima Khatun, Sheikh Hemayet, ASM Jahirul Haque Chowdhury, Abdul Alim and Rinku.
A discussion on “Mamtajur Rahman Tarafdarer Etihash Charchay Akal Bhabna” will be held in the central podium of the fair today (Tuesday). Professor Ajoy Ray will preside at the programme while Parvin Hasan will present the keynote paper.
Professor Syed Anwar Hossain, Saifuddin Chowdhury, AKM Shahnewaz and Mohammad Salim will be present as the discussants.
