Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) in a series of overnight special drives arrested at least 60 people from different areas in the city during the last 24 hours.
Police also seized 8,411 pieces of yaba tablets during the drives, a CMP press release said.
A total of six cases were filed in these connections.
Besides, CMP and Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) filed 580 cases against different types of vehicles including CNG-run auto rickshaws for not obeying the metropolitan rules in the city during the last 24-hour.
Police also seized 23 vehicles including 20 CNG-run auto rickshaws during the drives, police said.
Another reports adds: Police arrested a man for his alleged involvement in peddling drugs from City Gate area in Pahartali thana early yesterday. They also seized 6,800 pieces of yaba tablets from his possession. On a tip-off, a team of the Pahartali thana police conducted a raid in front of Almash CNG fuelling station of the City Gate area and arrested Mohammad Bacchu Meah, 26, of Kazirhat area in Hathazari upazila of the district with the yaba.A case was filed with Pahartali Thana.
