The Sales and Distribution Division of Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) will set up some 60,000 pre-paid electric metres at all the consumers’ residences and organisations in phases in Jamalpur.
Executive Engineer of Jamalpur BPDB Ashutosh Barua today told BSS that they have already set up 12,000 pre-paid electric meters in the district with a view to stopping misuse and pilferage of power.
He said, “The BPDB started setting up of pre-paid electric cards at consumers” residences and business establishments in November last year.”
A consumer can collect a pre-paid card with Taka 300 from the sale centre of BPDP, added the official.
Barua said, “Consumers will get rid from inflated bills and get uninterrupted electricity by means of the setting up of the pre-paid meter.”
Setting up the pre-paid meters in the district will be completed within the next three months, he expected.
