60,000 MW power will generate in 2041: State minister

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid has said that the government has a plan to generate 60,000 MW power by 2041.
The plan is taken as the government wants to meet the increasing demand of power supply which will support the ongoing development activities.
During reply to a query of opposition member of the parliament (MP) Jatiya Party’s Sayed Abu Hosen Babla on Monday at Jatiya Sangsad 18th parliamentary session, the state minister disclosed the information.
State minister said when Awami League had formed the government in 2009; the capacity of power generation was only 4,942 MW. In 2030, the government is in a plan to generate 30, 000 mw power in the country.
He said according to the government plan, the electricity conduction line will be 28,300 circuit kilometers in 2030 whereas power supply line will be 6, 10, 000 at the same time.
To illuminate every house in the country is the first and foremost priority of the government.
