Speakers at meeting on water stagnation problem in the south-western region of the country, said around 60 lakh people of Jessore, Khulna and Satkhira districts are facing water stagnation problem for not implementing projects taken by the government properly due to corruption and influence of powerful politicians. ‘They will face serious problem if steps are no taken,’ they added.
Hashem Ali Fakir presented the key note paper in the meeting held at Jessore Press Club recently. Non government organization Uttaran and Pani Committee jointly organized the meeting.
Chaired the Shafiqul Islam, president, Pani Committee, the meeting was addressed among others by Jahid Hasan Tukun, president, Jessore Press Club, Tauhidur Rahman, general secretary, Shahidul Islam, executive director, Uttaran, Azizul Haque Moni, executive director, Ulashi Sreejani Sangha, Farazi Ahmed Syeed Bulbul, Saifur Rahman Saif, Tohid Moni, Indrojit Roy and Sheikh Jalal Ahmed.
The speakers told that different projects were taken several times by the government but affected people were not benefited from those due to corruption. ‘People have to face terrible situation if the water stagnation problems are no solved’, they added.
