A six-year-old child has been raped in Savar.
She has not been able to identify the attacker, said Savar Model Police Station OC Mohsinul Qadir on Friday.
The child had gone out to buy cookies from a shop next to her home in Harindhara village of Savar’s Tetuljhara Union on Thursday afternoon, her father said. An unknown man forcibly took her to the roof of a nearby house where he gagged and raped her.
The house owned by ‘Noor Member’, a former Ward-8 union council member, does not live in the one-storey house, and has rented out all its rooms, her father said.
The tenants were away at their jobs when the child was attacked on the roof, he said quoting the victim.
The child was taken to Savar Upazila Health Complex after she returned to her house. She was transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital or DMCH when her condition deteriorated.
The victim has been sent to the One Stop Crisis Centre at DMCH, said Amzadul Haque, health and family planning official for Savar Upazila. Police have visited the site of the incident for investigation, said OC Mohsinul.
